Interprofessional collaboration was identified as a critical component in providing effective and efficient healthcare, considering the complex needs of patients and the involvement of diverse healthcare providers and organizations. It has been linked to positive outcomes, including enhanced patient safety, improved case management, optimal utilization of team members skills, and the delivery of higher quality healthcare (Berridge 2010; Reeves 2010; Suter 2012; Zwarenstein 2000).

This forms the basis for interprofessional education (IPE), which seeks to equip health students (including those studying medicine, nursing, and nutrition) with the skills to collaborate effectively across professions. IPE’s aim is to encourage the sharing of knowledge, competence and decision-making to provide integrated patient care. By engaging in IPE, future healthcare professionals can develop the skills and collaborative understanding.

However, in practice, interprofessional education faces various challenges, such as the difficulty for students and clinical supervisors to organize collaborative learning while serving patients. The challenge of organizing IPE which is often another obstacle is the difficulty of synchronizing schedules between faculties or study programs in implementing lectures and IPE activities (Widyandana et.al., 2019). By looking at the challenges related to the implementation of IPE learning, a simulation environment is needed that approaches the actual hospital service situation.
